Panul Forest

Panul Forest is a forest located in the commune where I live, La Florida. This forest belongs to the Sclerophyllous Forest, which is a type of forest typical of the Mediterranean climate of prolonged dry season and of short and cold winters, so it exists in only 5 places in the world. In our country it is located in the central area.

This forest is home to several species of flora and fauna that have some conservation status, for this reason its conservation is very important for the preservation of the biodiversity of the area. In addition to the above it is one of the few green lungs of Santiago.

Visitors usually leave a lot of rubbish, light fires inside the forest although it is forbidden. Other visitors enter with motorcycles for sport but the passage of the wheels on the roads erode the ground and the noise of the motorcycles interrupt the natural cycle of the species that are inside the forest. Unfortunately there is a lot of misinformation as well as a lack of environmental education in the people who visit it.

It is very important to educate people about environmental issues, because the few green spaces and without human intervention are very small, these spaces are a great contribution to life on the planet, the diversity of species is a very relevant topic in these times because the extinction of species is increasing.
We must all contribute to the care of forests and natural spaces, the Panul Forest is very beautiful and the species within it need our care, For this reason we must educate those around us to contribute a grain of sand and to change people’s bad habits.

  3. It's so real what you are saying, the panul forest it's beautifull, and the desinformation and the little care about that place is going to ruin it. I hope that we could stop that and share the information that we have to others that don't have a easy access to that information.
